In Already Made 5 (One Week Coffee Self-Portraits), 2007 Ivan Moudov transposes the “classical” genre of the self-portrait to local traditions and superstitions, such as the reading of one’s future with Turkish coffee grounds. This is a tradition which has survived through the centuries in many countries on the Balkans and didn’t loose its popularity even during socialist times. The work consists of seven photogrpahs of the inside of the artist’s coffee cup taken over the course of seven consequitive days. These images were given to a fortune teller, whose readings are presented as texts accompanying each of the photographs.
