Certificate of Authenticity, 2015

Certificate of Authenticity is the result of Ivan Moudov’s residency at Tobacna 001 CC, in Ljubljana. The project started as a overview exhbition and concluded as a catalogue. However none of those stages of the project followed the usual process of curating and editing.  The catalogue somehow precedeed the exhibition and the exhibition was a tool for the catalogue. The exhibition showed the pages of the mockup for the catalogue and offered each individual page for sale to the public. By purchasing a page, a visitor selected it for publication in the final book version of the overview catalogue. All the purchased pages were published in the catalogue, and those that did not find a buyer were not included. The buyer thus also became the co-editor of the publiction. The project had the time limit of a year: after its initial presentation at Tobačna 001 in Ljubljana, the exhibition was staged in Kunstverein (Milano) in Milan, tranzitdisplay in Prague, Artists Club / Coffre-Fort in Brussels, Kluckyland in Vienna, and ICA-Sofia, ending in late 2015.
