Garbage is an artistic action, in which the artist established a kind of waste removal business for the duration of a six-month artist residency in Switzerland. The “enterprise” consisted of proposing to Swiss citizens to export their household trash to Germany, contributing to the cleanliness of the Swiss territory. For six months, every Friday, the artist took the trash of 40-50 Swiss “clients” in his own car, across the border to Germany, where he discarded the bags in the mixed trash bins placed in rest areas along the motorway. The charge for the “service” was 10 CHF per bag. The issue of waste is addressed in several works by the artists, both as an economical and a cultural phenomenon.
