Periods, 2019 is a performative piece where the artist meticulously draws lines of dots on a canvas. Every day, for a few hours, he is present in the gallery where the work is simultaneously exhibited and being made. After each daily session he notes the date and the daily number of dots on a piece of paper placed next to the canvas. The work is a performance on the question of time, a form of meditation, a nostalgic nod to traditional studio practice, as well as a reference to the obsessive repetition used in some conceptual art.
