Sound Flags, 2025

Ivan Moudov and sound artist Sibin Vassilev use software to transform the flags of Turkey, Bulgaria, and Greece into sound, broadcast from speakers mounted atop three flagpoles. National symbols often claim to embody unity and identity, yet Sound Flags challenges this assumption: instead of passively representing nations, the flags merge into a symphony of sounds. This fusion invites listeners to feel rather than to follow fixed meanings, opening space for interpretation beyond borders.
