Institution
An organization founded for a religious, educational, professional, or social purpose
The projects in the Red Section focus on various, often paradoxical, inconsistent or incongruent institutional rules and regulations (the principles according to which museums and galleries operate, exhibition and institution opening rituals, the roles museums and collectors play in valorizing works of art, etc.). In this, they take on diverse forms of subversive interventions in public space(s), performative actions, and interventions in museum and gallery collections. As he devises ostensible institutional codes or deconstructs and transforms existing ones, Moudov often transgresses the limits of what is legitimate, creating situations that put viewers to the test.
